The 2025 Future Science Prize Week ("Prize Week”) reached its grand finale this afternoon with the 2025 Future Science Prize Awards Ceremony and Concert. To mark the 10th anniversary milestone of the Future Science Prize and the Hong Kong Academy of Sciences, this year’s awards ceremony was held for the first time at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, presented in the form of a concert blending science with the arts. Seven laureates of this year’s "Life Science Prize," "Physical Science Prize," and "Mathematics and Computer Science Prize" attended the ceremony to receive their awards in person. Over a thousand guests were present to witness the laureates' special moment.

 

Speaking at the ceremony, Professor Yi CUI, Member of the 2025 Science Committee of the Future Science Prize, expressed his utmost respect and congratulations to all the laureates who have been recognised in the ten years since the awards were established. He stated that the Prize upholds the core values of science and fairness, and that its rigorous selection system has earned it outstanding credibility and international influence. While reflecting on the past and looking forward to the future, CUI hopes that the spirit of science will continue to illuminate the journey of human civilisation like an eternal beacon.

 

Mr Victor WANG, Rotating Chairman, 2025 Future Science Prize Donor’s Congress, said in his speech that he is honoured to have witnessed the journey of the Future Science Prize over the past decade, from its inception to its current status as an influential force. He noted that this journey has inspired countless scientists, ignited the passion of thousands of young people, and gradually transformed societal perceptions of science across the nation. He added that the Prize has fostered a forward-looking ecology and culture. In the coming decade, WANG hopes that the Prize will continue to embody the purity of purpose and passion that it was founded upon.

 

Ms Cathy WU, Secretary General of The Future Science Awards Foundation, Initiator and Secretary General of Future Forum, also expressed her gratitude for the support that the Future Science Prize has received from all sectors over the past ten years.

 

This year's awards ceremony was particularly innovative, presenting the perfect fusion of science and art in the form of a concert. The event featured performances by a number of internationally renowned artists, including world-famous tenor Warren MOK, soprano WANG Bingbing, acclaimed violinist Lü Siqing, the Opera Hong Kong Orchestra and Chorus, and the choir from St. Paul’s Co-educational College Primary School. Together, they delivered a spectacular musical feast for the audience. This grand event, merging science and art, not only marks the 10th anniversary of the Future Science Prize, but also celebrates this year’s award-winning scientists, emphasising the resonance of science and art.

 

In addition, the Future Science Prize Awards Ceremony Exhibition is currently being held in the foyer area of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, recreating the prestige of the Future Science Awards Ceremony. Members of the public are welcome to visit.
